What Students Have to Say About Their Black History Class (Opinion)

Geoff Wickersham is in his 34th year of teaching, more than 27 of those at Groves High School in Birmingham, Mich., where he teaches Advanced Placement U.S. History, AP African American Studies, philosophy, and women’s studies and history. This school year, he asked the 13 students in his school’s inaugural AP African American Studies class to reflect on their experiences taking the course so far.
